This is a
huge subject, many people look to the Book of Job and say yes, He does. In a former post I deal with the Book of Job,
which is outstanding and we learn a lot from it. Here is the link: http://trustjesusfavor.blogspot.com/2014/02/book-of-job-does-god-allow-sickness.html .
Here’s two quick points: Job was from the land of UZ, he wasn’t a Jew,
Hebrew, Israelite. In Old Covenant
Times, God dealt differently with man, we were under the curse. Also, during this time Father God allowed the
accuser entrance to His Throne Room. After
Jesus’ Finished work, the devil was defeated and Father God placed Jesus at His
right hand Ephesians 1:20-21 “Far above
all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is
named.” Jesus is set at the Fathers’ right hand. If satan were allowed in the Throne Room,
these days, Jesus would not be set above all names, dominion etc. Here also is another scripture showing this truth.
Matthew
16:19 “I will give you the keys of the
kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful)
on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose
(declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.” I think
that we can agree that there is no sickness, death, evil in Heaven (therefore
no devil). Matthew 28:18 Jesus declares
all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth”.
Now then, Jesus is perfect theology and shows
us, His Fathers will. Where did He send
a storm, sickness, disease or death? He
never did: Jesus, calmed storms, healed sickness and death and “freed all those
oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38).
Then ordered us to do the same (Mark 16:15-18).
Let’s agree on three things right now! Jesus is
the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Acts 10:34 “And Peter opened his mouth and said: Most certainly and thoroughly
I now perceive and understand that God shows no partiality and is no respecter
of persons,” and lastly John
5:19” Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for
what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” So Jesus is no respecter of persons, He is
the same, always and does only what Father God does. With that in mind, many
people ask God if it is His Will to heal them!
I did when I was paralyzed. That
question is one that Father God will never answer. Why? Because He already did! Luke 5:12-13 here is a summary, the man with leprosy tells
Jesus Lord, if it is your will, you can make me clean. This is the same
question we ask today. Lord is it your will to heal me? Jesus responds “I will:
be thou clean”. Remember, Jesus is the
same yesterday, today and always, He is no respecter of persons, and shows us
His Fathers Will!! So the answer is the same today! One note, the word clean is
more than a mere healing, it actually means to be fully cleansed (body, soul
and spirit)!!
Now, the two verses below are often used to say,
that God sends sickness so that He will be glorified. So not true!
As I stated in the previous post there were four miracles that were
reserved for the Messiah. These are two
of them, and are why Jesus stated that the works of God should be made manifest
in him. He wasn’t saying that God sent him the blindness! It was because one of the four miracles was
to be fulfilled through this man.
John 9:2-3
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this
man, or his parents, that he was born blind?3 Jesus answered, Neither
hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made
manifest in him.
Likewise, with Lazarus, this was the fourth and final miracle that
proved Jesus to be Messiah! This is why after Jesus raised Lazarus, the
Pharisees sought to kill Lazarus. God didn’t send this sickness, but Jesus used
it to fulfill, the final miracle. That is why He stated but for the glory of
God, that the Son of God might be glorified!
Another note, Jesus waited four days for a reason, it was considered
impossible to raise the dead after 3 days. This is what sets Lazarus’ raising
apart from the others. John 11:4
When Jesus heard that, he
said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God,
that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Matthew
11:4-6
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those
things which ye do hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the
gospel preached to them. 6 And
blessed is he, whosoever shall not be
offended in me.
Ever wonder why Jesus was so specific when answering John’s
disciples and why Jesus took them and showed them His performing the miracles? He includes the four miracles that only Jesus
could fulfill, knowing that John the Baptist, being an Old Testament prophet
would know, the four miracles reserved for Messiah! Ask any Jew, what signs they are looking for
Messiah to perform. The only difference
is they are still looking for the signs that we know are already fulfilled. One
last thing, when Jesus fulfilled each one of these miracles, Jesus told them to
show themselves before the priest at the synagogue. This system was put into place, so that these
miracles which had never been performed could be verified. The leper, the blind man etc…it was put there
when the Mosaic Law was implemented, so they could recognize Messiah. Now don’t get confused when looking these
things up, not all the miracles, Jesus performed are in chronological order, in
the scriptures, and experts have verified
this. Look at the miracles that
the Pharisees and Saduccees scrutinized and had harsh words for. These are the
miracles only the Messiah could perform.
Now, to tie this all together, In the New Covenant, God does not
“allow” sickness. He gave us Jesus, Who
gave us the Fullness of God, In Him, by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 7:911 “9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will
he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good
gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven
give good things to them that ask him?”
James 1:17
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh
down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning.
The next post will be on
why is there so much sickness and disease, if God doesn't allow it!
