(Book
of Job) does God allow sickness Today?
Under The
Old Covenant yes, He did. The Old Covenant is based off of man’s action or
inaction. The New Covenant is based off
of Jesus’ Action. During the Old
Covenant God was wrathful at man’s sin. In the New Covenant all of His Wrath
was borne by one Person Christ Jesus.
Job had a role in his persecutions, what is that role? Self-fulfilling prophesy, fear is what
happened. Job chapter 3:25-26
“For the
thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is
come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet
trouble came.”
This shows us
Job’s obsessive fear. We are first
introduced to this fear in Job 1:5 “And it was so, when the days of their
feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early
in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them
all; for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their
hearts. Thus did Job continually. “
When we
constantly worry about a situation and fear of it, it will sometimes come to
pass. If it doesn't we spend a lot of time (not in safety, no rest, in fear and torment) That was Job’s plight, and
the devil went after it. Job thought
that it was God’s retribution, because his sons’ must have cursed God, which wasn’t the case at
all. Job 1:21 …….the Lord gave, and the
Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord” This shows the misnomer.
But it
wasn’t God that took away, it was the devil.
God did allow it, but now we are
under a covenant with better promises. Hebrews 8:6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much
also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established
upon better promises.
God no
longer deals with us from His wrath, because it was satisfied. Peace on earth
goodwill towards men. Meaning He because
of Jesus is now at peace with mankind. It
is the devil that is out to steal, plunder and destroy, not The Father.
But when we believe
wrongly, the devil can and will seize the opportunity. If we feel it is God allowing evil, then we
are open game. The Father gave us His
Son and through Jesus we have God’s Favor.
One of the reason’s Jesus came was to show us His
Fathers Will. To usher in the New Covenant, while fulfilling
the Old Covenant. Example: Luke 9:53-55
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)
53 And they
did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when
his disciples James and John saw this, they
said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and
consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye
know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
Notice that
there was a time, that action was in keeping with God’s Will, but not so,
now. Here is another example of God’s
Will in the New Covenant:
Luke 5:12-13
Amplified
Bible (AMP)
12 While He was in one of the towns, there came a man full of
(covered with) leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored
Him, saying, Lord, if You
are willing, You are able to cure me and make me clean.
13 And [Jesus] reached out His hand and touched him,
saying, I am willing; be
cleansed! And immediately the leprosy left him. This is directly from Jesus’ mouth to us. He
is completely able and willing to cleanse us, completely. Spiritually and
physically. It is always His and His Fathers’ Will to heal us. Jesus is perfect theology, show me where
Jesus sent a disease, storm or any other evil thing? He didn’t because that is
from the devil not from The Father. Nor does He allow it, because under the New
Covenant
Isaiah 54:17
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)
17 No
weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;
and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Disease, sickness and death is a weapon
from the devil, to us and is not allowed to those who walk in the New Covenant.
Thus the problem, we do not fully recognize the inheritance we have received in
Christ. We unknowingly through a mixture of the Old and New Covenants fall from
favor. Galatians
5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by
the law; ye are fallen from grace.
4 If you seek to
be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God
through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ.
You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited
blessing).
Sickness
and disease will come, but it isn’t God’s Will and the more we trust in God’s
Favor through Jesus, then it has to leave. This is our inheritance.
Now before I hear that
sickness is an everyday part of life and unstoppable……..here’s my response.
There are two examples
of a perfectly healthy nation of Israel. One before the Law and one during the Mosaic
Law.
From the moment they
left Egypt until Mount Sinai, when Moses gave the Law, there were no deaths,
disease, no feeble among them. This was a 40 year period. This was maintained
until the children of Israel boasted that they could keep God’s Law. Then as
soon as God established the law, they broke it with the golden calf. It wasn’t
until the Mosaic Law that they made a idol. And 3000 died that day.
The other time was during Solomon’s Reign,
there were no fatherless children.
Meaning once again no sickness, death or disease, another period of
about 40 years. So if it happened during the Old Covenant, it certainly can
happen during The New Covenant: Hebrews 8:6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much
also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established
upon better promises.
We are now under God’s Favor unless we turn back
to the law. Trust in the Favor (Grace) that Jesus earned and gives abundantly
to us.
