One of the
most overlooked tools to helping another person is being a witness, by sharing
our testimonies with others. The
Scriptures themselves is a huge testimony of Jesus. Were it not for The Scriptures, we wouldn’t
know that Jesus is our salvation, our Healer etc… The accounts of Jesus’ Life, Death and
Resurrection is how we became Believers.
We are told that we are to be witnesses of Jesus, a witness gives an
account of an event, in other words a testimony. This is how the Apostles changed the world,
they gave true accounts of their own personal experience with Jesus. The one most effective way to change a life
is to give a personal account of an experience with Jesus. This is true whether we are giving witness to
salvation, healing or any other Gift from Jesus.
In telling
of a testimony Holy Spirit moves through your words into that persons
heart. I tell my testimony on a daily
basis, not to draw attention to myself, but to draw them to Jesus. In my experience there are many Believers
that keep their wonderful experiences to themselves and that is a tragedy by
itself. I have seen many people healed,
yet they keep that miraculous experience to themselves. This does nothing to edify others or
themselves. When we testify true
experiences with Jesus, we do two things.
Build faith and expectation in the other person and in ourselves.
This is speaking not just for faith in salvation,
but the spoken testimony builds faith for all the Gifts of God. Not only for others, but for ourselves as well. Hearing the spoken word of all of God’s
wonderous Gifts to us, builds faith.
When I give my testimony I’m hearing my retelling of my personal
encounter with Jesus. This is reminding myself of how amazing Our God is.
Mark 6:52
Authorized
(King James) Version (AKJV)
52 For they
considered not the
miracle of the
loaves: for their heart was hardened.
I guarantee that those who constantly tell
others and remind themselves of the many times Jesus intervenes for us, live
with an expectation to see the goodness of God revealed. When times of trouble come upon us, we can
immediately look upon the last miracle and expect Him to intervene again and He
will. Those who keep the miracle to
themselves forget about it and when trouble comes, they let fear not expectation
settle in.
The key is to recognize the small miracles. Perhaps, there are symptoms in your body that
are a warning sign that perhaps there could be a major problem. Medical tests
are given they turn up negatative and the symptoms disappear…………that isn’t
luck, chance, or coincidence…………..it’s Jesus! Thank Him, and give your
testimony (no matter how small) to others.
Then when something else comes up, you can draw upon that experience and
trust Jesus to remove that situation as well.
The power of a testimony changes the course of
the lives of those you come into contact with and also your own life. So recognize how Jesus has operated in your
life and then tell others. It is like a stepping stone, recognize and testify of one miracle, then your faith and another's is built up; then you trust Jesus more and more and Jesus becomes the center of your life and reliance upon Him, becomes the norm.
